Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this thesis is to dedicate to get the objectivity of herbal medicine treatments by choosing herbs likely to work as antifungal agents against C. albicans and C. tropicalis which are the causes of Candida vaginitis, making experiments on them and getting the significant results.

Methods :Each herb¡¯s efficiency on control the number of Candida vaginitis is noticed by using Disk susceptibility test with six herb med and Broth dilution assay of the culture.

Results :1. Alumen, Akebiae Caulis, Aucklandiae Radix, Polygalae Radix, Caryophylli Flos, Kochiae Fructus among herbs having the nature of the antifungal were experimented on the efficiency of antifungal agents by Disk susceptibility test. The efficiency strength is as follows in order; Alumen, Caryophylli Flos, Polygalae Radix, Aucklandiae Radix. Thus, Alumen has the strongest efficiency, Caryophylli Flos was rather good on treating the candida vaginitis. The efficiency in Polygalae Radix, Aucklandiae Radix, Kochiae Fructus was meager. In Akebiae Caulis never appeared the effects on treatment. 2. Water soluble extracts of herb are investigate on the possibility of controlling the number of a germ in the liquid culture ground by the way of Broth dilution assay. Minimal inhibition concentration(MIC) of the control, for C. albicans and C. tropicalis is 2.5 §·/§¢ for Alumen and 20 §·/§¢, 5 §·/§¢ for Caryophylli Flos. Polygalae Radix and Aucklandiae Radix reacted peculiarly to C. tropicalis and each MIC was 5 §·/§¢, 20 §·/§¢.

Conclusion :This study shows that Alumen, Akebiae Caulis, Polygalae Radix, Aucklandiae Radix, Caryophylli Flos, Kochiae Fructus extracts have in vitro antifungal activities against Candida albicans and Candida tropicalis which is associated with Candida vaginitis.
